The electric bike conversion kit for Leah’s e-bike arrived. It looks really good and everything checks out. It’s a rear hub motor kit. The wheel looks well built with 13 gauge spokes and double wall rim. The other parts look well made and thought out. I’m looking forward to getting it installed and going for a ride to see how it performs.
The battery pack is a nice design. It comes with a mounting plate and is lockable. When the key is turned, it locks to the mounting plate. The battery can be left locked to the bike while at the store so it doesn’t have to be removed and carried around. I’ll show more details when I install it.
The kit is from E-BikeKit. I spent a lot of time researching which one to buy and this one came highly recommended. So far I’m really pleased.
In the video you can see all the parts that come with it. I ordered both the 6 and 7 speed freewheel. I also ordered both the thumb and half twist throttle. I’ll try to show how each of these installs. I’m going to start with the 6 speed freewheel and thumb throttle.
For each step of the installation I’ll make a video that shows how I do it. I’ll show how I solve any problems and talk about other potential problems and how to solve them.
The next video will be about installing the freewheel and preparing the dropouts for wheel installation.
Stay tuned for more details as this project proceeds.
